How does the breath alcohol test work?
The breath alcohol test uses a new patented process for a simple on-the-spot test. It can be used only once and thrown away, to prevent any possible disease transmission. Alcohol in a person's bloodstream passes through the lungs into a person's breath and can be detected using this test. The tester contains chemically treated crystals which will change colors depending on the amount of alcohol present in the person's breath. When the alcohol test is administered, the crystals are released into a tube which is then exhaled into. The crystals are a light yellow color at first to indicate the absence of alcohol, but will turn blue if alcohol is present. If the crystals turn blue, this indicates that the person being tested is over the legal limit. The crystals may also have a slight greenish color to them, as opposed to blue, which indicates that the person being tested has alcohol in their system but is not over the limit. This alcohol testing process has been proven to be accurate and is used in legal devices by law enforcement personnel.
